Work ahead of Me

Looks like I've got a lot of work ahead of me next week when the kiddos go back to school. Taking down all the decorations in the house and finding room to store the new ones purchased this winter. Does it always seem like taking them down isn't near as fun and putting them up - sigh? Also I get to look forward to sorting through all this and decided what to keep and what not to.

See DH's mom decided that she's not going to decorate her house anymore. I hope I never get to the point when I'm older that I don't feel like decorating for Christmas anymore since it's my favorite time of the year. So DH comes home one night with this in tow - his family decorations - we're going to sort through and see what all is in here.

Now that Christmas is over am I the only one that's starting to get the garage sale fever again. I know, I know - it's cold outside. Still apparently I'm not the only one because DH was talking last night about all the things he's hoping we'll find this garage sale season.

Until next time. . .

1/2 off Christmas

MellowYellowMondayBadge

http://smilingsally.blogspot.com

I hadn't planned on hitting any of the day after Christmas sales. Normally I tend to wait until everything goes to 75% off. However, I had two sick men both with a bad stomach virus and a shortage of medicine which required a trip to the Dollar General. I've had my eye on this but couldn't bring myself to pay $5 for it so I was pleased to see it still there Saturday evening. $2.50 I could bring myself to pay.

While there I also spotted these adorable snowman plates and picked up 4 to use in a future tablescape. .75 each

Christmas with Thrifty Annabella

Christmas went great this year - with the exception of a missing present which was found and DH and DS ending up catching a virus and being sick Christmas night. Thankfully, though we were finished with all family get togethers. Just wanted to share a few pictures.

This kitty kept meowing at me for days, even wrapped it knew every time I walked by.

Christmas is in full swing

Sorry been a little quiet lately but as many of you know Christmas season is in full swing and it's the most crazy busy time of the year. Beverly asked us not too long ago to share holiday traditions and ours usually begins the last day of school with the school Christmas program. DD this year was the wind in the song Do You Hear What I Hear? DS was Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. They both did great.

Giving their praise to baby Jesus - he is what Christmas is all about.

What a way to top off the Christmas production than with a visit from Dear Ole St. Nick himself.

Then it was off to the church Christmas program. DD was a camel and DS was a wise man.

Cleaning up after the program and can you believe it!! - DH vacuums after all. I always knew he had it in him.

I actually managed to get my hair put up for this event which is always a big deal for me since my hair is so thick. I actually get excited when it all goes into place.

Until next time Merry Christmas to all and remember Jesus is the reason!

Holiday Traditions

Pink Saturday at - Pink Saturday

While posting this I realized that most of my pictures from last years Christmas got lost when I restored my computer. WAAAHHH!! But the show must go on. Beverly wanted us to post our Christmas traditions for this week. Christmas is normally a busy time of the year for us. It starts with school plays on the last day before break. Then it's time for the church play and banquet. Then comes Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Normally spent with my family we always make sure to spend Christmas with my grandparents. Christmas Eve finds us over there opening presents and then Christmas Day finds us all over there cooking and eating. Here are some pictures from Christmas' past for your enjoyment.

Opening presents at Nana's house - look at all that paper everywhere - LOL

Looks like Santa made a stop by Grandma's that year.

At the church Christmas Banquet last year. The only photo of Christmas I had left from last year.

White Wednesday

I'm gonna throw up a quick White Wednesday post - the next two weeks are uber busy. Two Christmas programs, one Christmas Sunday at church and of course Christmas - it's the most Wonderful, busy time of the year

I love my two end tables - only one is shown here - DH took me to the furniture store one day and told me I could pick out two new end tables but I only could spend $100 each. Yeah, right. I looked all over that store but my heart was set on these two cottage style tables and he finally gave in. Gotta love him for it.

My two ladies - I picked the angel up at a garage sale for $5 and the lady holding the flowers I found at Hobby Lobby on sale for 90% off.

Until next time . . .

Home for the Holidays

So I'm joining in on the Home for the Holidays party at Ms. Rhonda's. I look forward to seeing everyone's homes tomorrow. I've just recently started adding to my collections and do not have near the decor that a lot of you have but wanted to share what little I have.

My table with a little of the glitter from DD's birthday party still on the tablecloth. Too funny.

My curio cabinet decked out and from the glare shining off the mirror it looks like I need to change Glass cleaners - streaky - LOL

My Christmas tree - can't seem to get a good picture of it without getting a lot of unfinished home improvement projects in the shot.

My little Squirrel sitting next to my favorite Christmas candy.

These two pics are from last year. I took them of DS & DD in front of my two trees. I decided that I didn't like the silver tinsel one as much as I thought I would and it ended up in the garage sale this summer.

My Own Decoration

Pink Saturday at - Pink Saturday

So this weeks challenge at Beverly's Pink Saturday party was to show off a favorite decoration. Hope this counts since it's not pink but when thinking of my favorite decoration of all this ornament comes to mind. I made this myself when I was in Preschool and it has been on my mom's tree and now mine ever since.

Kroger Thanksgiving Clearance

It's a Very Cherry World

So Thursday I ventured into Kroger to order DD a cake for her birthday and saw these sitting in a buggy next to the front door marked $3 each.

My mom and I had so much fun with them that day. We named them after DS & DD and sat them in their carseats while we ran our errands around town.

PS - please ignore my dust on my desk drawer - didn't realize it was in such bad shape since it stays pushed under all the time - LOL!!!

Happy Thrifting everyone!

Birthdays and Snow

This post is joining the following party
White Wednesday at - White Wednesday

This weekend has been crazy. First was the snow here in Louisiana Friday night. My kids had a great time this morning having snowball fights.

Next was DD's Birthday party. We threw her a princess party and she had a great turnout. Look at that birthday cake with the pretty princesses in pink, blue and yellow. We put 4 trick candles on there and got a kick out of her trying to blow them out. I know we should be ashamed - LOL.

Until next time - Happy Thrifting everyone.

Snow in Louisiana

Looks like Thrifty-Annabella might have a White Wednesday post this week. Snow and in Louisiana of all places. This is something you hardly ever see in Central or South Louisiana and now it's falling in buckets. Hopefully, I'll have some pics up later this weekend. Stay warm and as always. . .

Happy Thrifting!

Okay I just had to share one for now

Estate Sale Christmas Decor

http://suelovescherries.blogspot.com

I'm doing this post as a dedication to a couple whose tree and home I can imagine all these decorations adorning for years. Unfortunately, they passed away and their children had to sell their belongings. At this same Estate Sale I came across these ornaments and knee huggers and now they adorn my home.

Happy Thrifting!
