Goodwill 10/23

So today I had to make a drop off at Goodwill (see I'm not a clutterbug after all) and while there I decided to go ahead and check out what they had on the inside. I ended up with several Christmas gifts for the kids for only $7.

Then it was off to Kroger. I used my fall savings rewards and got some pretty good savings.

I'm planning on going back to Kroger tonight because I have a few coupons I forgot that I wanted to use on sale items. Plus we're going to the home improvement store since I have a $10 off of $20 or more coupon that expires tomorrow. I need to pick up a couple things there for our living room project.

Happy Thrifting.

Newest Deals

So I haven't been able to garage sale this past week due to rain and hubby's new Chiropractor which is getting most of my garage sale funds. But we did hit a couple sales and here are our finds.

I actually got 4 of these - one is in use - on sale at WalMart for $6 - free minus $6 off coupon.

I got 3 of these but DH has already tore into one. Target had them on Clearance for $5.55 and minus $4 manufac. coupon - paid $1.55 each. Not bad since the refills are pricey.

Saturday - Oh My

Boy am I tired - two trips to town garage saling - would have only been one if we'd went in the truck the first time instead of the car. Instead we had to go back to pick up stuff we'd bought. I know I usually have a set budget for garage sales but we kept finding so many bargains we blew budget big time. Here's some of the highlights - we also ended up with some clothes, a new front door for $20, and a new mirror for the house for $10 (hubby's decision - I told him until I get back in shape I get tired of seeing myself in mirrors LOL).

Candle holder $2, white figurine was in a free box and movie $1 (hope it's good - never seen it)

I thought these were so cute for $2 and just in time for Halloween

This came from my last garage sale of the day and what a buy at $20 - I've just got to find some pretty cushions for it.

I hardly ever find shoes in my size. However, today was my lucky day at $1 a pair

DH's buy - he thought these guys were cute $2

My two purses - the chili pepper one was $1 and the purple one was a little more than I like to spend but why not at $3

I've kind of wanted to start a collection of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. I figure if I get tired of it they can always go in my next garage sale. Plus I figured this little scarecrow was perfect for my fall decor.

Until next time - Happy Thrifting. Don't forget to add yourself to my followers list to keep up with the garage sale fun.

Two Purses Under $10

So today I decided to get out of the house and explore town a little bit. Boy am I glad I did. First stop was Family Dollar - hoping to get my hands on some free Marcal towels (didn't happen) I did find the yellow purse below sitting in a clearance buggy marked down to $1.80.

Next door is Stage - I've always got to visit Stage to see if any purses are on sale for 70%. No 70% sale today but as I was browsing the 50% rack I saw the white purse and saw it was marked $12.00. When I got to the register they took an additional 40% off so it only cost me $7.60 with tax.

Tomorrow, for the first time in 3 weeks (yes, I know withdrawal city) I'm hitting the garage sales again. I have 19 garage sales on my list and a handful of church sales and neighborhood sales so I'm hoping to post some great buys. Until then - Happy Thrifting.

I haven't disappeared yet!

Hi - just wanted to let everyone know I haven't disappeared. It's been rainy nasty weather here where we live so no garage sales. We did make it to Goodwill last weekend but not much to brag about. Hopefully, the rain will stop and we'll be back yard saling soon.

One Garage Sale and Lots of Rain

So I slept in today knowing that it was 90% chance of rain and most of the garage sales listed in the paper would probably never happen. Yesterday, however, I visited my DH's cousin - the one who I know I've mentioned in earlier posts. She buys storage buildings people don't pay for and re-sells the stuff monthly in garage sales. That's where I got my Gone With the Wind Lamp from an earlier post. On the second day of her garage sales she has half price day and knowing I wouldn't be hitting the sales in the city this weekend I decided to see what she had. For $13.75 I got all this.

Then it was off to WalMart with a friend of mine. I didn't buy hardly anything but this caught my eye and I knew I had to try it.

PS - Ms. Rhonda is canceling the Thrifty Treasures Party until spring but around here we garage sale all year long so be sure to add yourself to my followers list to keep up with the garage sale fun.

Freebies!!!

I forgot to share my pouting baby that I got for free at one of the garage sales today. BTW - please excuse my old beat up couch which I plan to replace one day and my poor stained carpet which is also in line to be replaced. LOL

Also hubby's nephew is a car repo guy - around here isn't like on TV where they take the car and the people can get it back. They sign a release and are allowed to get whatever they want out and then hubby's nephew has to clean them out before he takes them to the bank. Hubby was helping him this evening and this is what I ended up with left in a car.

Vegetable thingie from WalMart

Coach bag - wonder if it's a real one or a fake. Hope it's real. (Some sites I've looked on say it's probably real since the C's are lined up and centered. Some sites make me wonder - not sure. It has a leather tag on the inside that says Handcrafted in China and gives a Serial No. So????

Garage Sales 9/5

So I'm so excited about some of the garage sales we hit today. Most of them were ones that the prices were outrageous - I mean really $5 for a used DVD - get real. But I did happen along a few good buys today along with a couple from yesterday.

This top is homemade and hopefully will fit for .75

Coca Cola T-shirt (like new) .50

Who remembers Clearly Canadian? Do they even still make it? I used to have a set of shakers like these and can't remember what happened to them - $1.75 (more than I would have liked to pay but the nostalgia caved me in)

This cute set of salt and pepper shakers was .10

Cross - $1

My favorite buy of the day and what most of these pics were taken on - Sony Cybershot Digital Camera - $10

Silk Scarf (tag says Lagerfield Parfums) .50

VHS - $1

I bought 5 of these cute custard bowls to fit in my wire rack that I bought at Goodwill a couple months ago and they turned out to be a perfect fit - $1

And finally leaving you with another picture of my little "chicken" Socks.

IGA and My Two Girls

Just wanted to share the reason I love my local IGA

The pack of apples was .79 and the pack with 5 tomatoes was also .79

Also just had to share my two girls with ya'll. I did manage to get the fleas off baby girl (Socks) with some special kitten shampoo. Thanks for all the tips.

Garage Saling and Thrifting 8/30

Boy am I wore out. I learned today I really need to start bringing a camera with me. There were so many interesting stories to tell. Two ladies that bought two big dolls at one garage sale and I kept running into them at the other garage sales. They would bring the dolls with them to the other garage sales and try clothes on the dolls and just laugh. Seemed to be having fun to me. There were a couple other ladies who would get the garage sale owners to try on their hats they were selling. Wonder if they were taking pics for the web.

I got disappointed at a lot of the garage sales today because the prices were outrageous. Is $2 for a used baseball high to anyone else or just me. I did get the kids a couple child sized baseball gloves - one was $2 and one was $3. At one garage sale in a beautiful plantation home they had a deal - load a bag with clothes for $2. Hubby got a lot of nice church shirts out of that deal. I thought I happened upon a great buy when I found the kids a slip and slide brand new for $1. Realized when we got home that it's hard to slide down it without the inflatable boogie board that was supposed to have been with it. I'll have to sneak over to my mom's tomorrow and steal one of her inner tubes for the pool.

Here are pics of my other buys for today along with my Kroger receipt showing my savings there today. Now I think I'll take it easy the rest of the evening.

Total savings today - $114.37

Games .50 each

These cups were a quarter each. Didn't realize until I got home that the one in the middle has a small crack.

This top was $1 and the jacket for DD was also $1

The Mary Kate and Ashley dress was $2, the one in the middle was $1 and the skirt was $1.

The only DVD I found today that I would buy $1 - I'm sorry but I refuse to pay $3-$4 for a used DVD.

One another note DH came home from work yesterday and asked me to go outside and get the box of chicken out of his truck. I was so peeved because I was taking a survey and didn't understand why he couldn't bring it in himself. So I marched out there and grabbed it and brought it in the house and was about to toss it on the table when he asked me to look inside and see if they'd put the biscuits in there. So I open it up to find this "chicken" instead.

He found her at one of the log mills where he works. Any suggestions on how to get fleas off a kitty this small.

Garden Veggies - Free

Guess what I'm going to be doing today.

Yep you guessed it - putting up okra. How does this relate to being thrifty you ask? Well a couple from our church gave us all this (plus a little more we shared with MIL) for free - all we had to do was pick it. Sunday they gave us a 5 gallon bucket full. This is the second batch they've gave us. Sunday's batch gave us 10 quart bags full.

They also gave us a bag of yellow squash and a bag of cucumbers. Gotta love generous friends. We can eat healthy this winter.

Happy thrifting.

Wal-Marting

So I figured I'd post this as my thrifty finds of the week since the listing for garage sales in the paper were few. From where we live the city we go garage saling at is over 30 miles away so unless there at least 5 or more garage sales it's not worth it to drive that far. So me and DS went to WalMart instead. Here are some of my brags.

I bought this lampshade for my goodwill lamp purchased a few weeks ago. DH said I finally found the right one - I'm not so sure. What do you think? This is from the Better Homes and Gardens collection and was on clearance for $11

At our local IGA I managed to get these great buys. The bananas were .79 for each pack and the huge pack of zucchini was priced at $1. Looks like a salad is on the menu for tonight.

Found this shirt for DH on clearance at WalMart - priced $3. They had some more but it's hard to shop for him without him there with me cause he has certain taste in clothes.

I got all this free at WalMart using free product coupons except for the Jello which was marked down .25 a box and with the .55 blinkie floating around it was free with .05 overage. I would have bought more but this WalMart has gotten particular with the one like coupon per transaction, particularly on clearance stuff, so I decided not to press my luck. Last time they made me so upset I walked out and didn't buy anything.

Happy Thrifting everyone!

Very Few Garage Sales

So today we had a busy day ahead of us. First garage sales. There were very few listed in the paper but we hit around 7 of them. Not much to brag about though.

This little Bobble Head cost .25c

This apothacary(spell) jar cost .75c

Also got DD a dress for $1, me a skirt for $1, a handful of Christian CD's $2.20 for all and a workout VHS for .50.

Then off to Kroger. Spent over 2 hours in there trying to figure out coupon deals and I know when I go through my box there are going to be so many I could have used and forgot about. Figures. But the grand total was $77 and change and the total savings was $83 and change. So 52% wasn't too bad. It would have been better but DH thinks when we go to a grocery store he's got to load the buggy with fruit which I'm proud of him because it's healthy but unfortunately, no coupons, which got my total on up there.

Happy Thrifting everyone.

Wednesday Garage Sales

Around here we have cases of weekly garage sales that can start any day of the week. My DH's cousin loves to start hers on Wednesday. This Wednesday her neighbor across the street decided to join in with her. I got DS some shirts and him and DD some toys (can't shop at garage sales with kids without ending up with toys). However, here are a few brags from today.

Purse - $1 - it's actually pink but not sure if it's showing up that way on camera.

Gumball machine from Carousel Company - $2

And my favorite find of the day antique lamp - $6
