Community Garage Sale

For everyone visiting for Pink Saturday my PS post is right below this one. I decided to go ahead and post this since I knew I probably wouldn't get a chance to later.

Don't forget to visit Southern Hospitality for their Thrifty Treasure's Monday party.

Southern Hospitality

This weekend was probably one of the last weekends we hang around the house hitting garage sales nearby. The first of May DH and I have decided to start venturing into the city again since it will be warm and there will be garage sales by the dozens.

We woke up this morning and headed out to the Community Garage Sale that I mentioned in my last post. As usual this community never fails to have lots of garage sales. There were at least 10 if not more. I found lots of things, a good bit of it being for the children.

There are a couple houses on this route that have a garage sale every year and I know I can count on them to have Christian CD's. This year was no exception. I paid $2.75 for all of these.

For $7 I picked up these DVD's for the kiddos (except Scorpion King for me). There was one garage sale along the route that still thinks used DVD's are worth $5 each. Only at WalMart brand new. Then there was another house charging $2 a piece for DVD's that were horribly scratched - I passed. My kids are big Alvin & the Chipmunks fans and that DVD ended up in the DVD player first thing when we got home.

One garage sale along the route always has pretty Christmas ornaments for sale. This year I found these two boxes there. As you can see $1.50 got me these.

For $4 I found me and DD each a new pair of summer shoes.

For $2 DD got two new dresses also.

I found this cross to add to my wall of crosses for $1.

Since the kids were behaving and not giving DH a hard time today I rewarded them with some books to look at in the car while they waited on mommy to look around the sales. $1.50 got all of these.

Then on the way home we saw another garage sale. The lady and gentleman having this sale are actually the parents of DH's boss. Unfortunately, his dad got hurt real bad last month and I'm sure they were probably having their garage sale to help with some of the expenses.

I picked up these beautiful salad plates from her for $3 and plan on using them to line up on my hutch for display.

I also bought all these puzzles from her for the kids. They were never opened and she charged me $1 a piece for them. Since it his bosses mom and I knew it was probably for a good cause I went ahead and bought them for the kids since they're such puzzle lovers.

So my grand total for today $27.75. I actually went over my $20 a week budget but it was all worth it LOL.

Until next time . . .

Wow! You found some great things. I think the plates are my favorite. Very cute!

I try to budget my yard sale spending too--but find myself stopping by the teller when I'm out of money. :)
